“Arts Administrator 101” Series - Exclusive Tour for HKAAA Members/Volunteers at Ko Shan Theatre New Wing

Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association (HKAAA) has launched this “Arts Administrator 101” Series and engaged experienced speakers to teach on various aspects of art administration skill. We hope this programme could equip new art administrators and also welcome experienced art administrators to join us to enhance existing skill.

Sharing on venue management experience and architectural features of a purposely-built venue dedicated for Cantonese opera!

 

In recent years, Cantonese opera in Hong Kong often introduce new ideas by using the latest stage technology and cross-over with different art forms for a wide range of audience of different age. The 5-storey Ko Shan Theatre New Wing comprises a 600-seat auditorium, an exhibition gallery and an array of rehearsal facilities to support performance and rehearsal needs of performing groups. It is also equipped with a specialist store for Cantonese and Chinese opera products and a green roof. The new wing has won several architectural awards, including the 2014 The Hong Kong Institute of Architects - Merit Award of Hong Kong Jury’s Special Mention (Community Building), 2015 Chivas 18 Architectural Design of the Year Award (Community Architect), 2015 Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets – Winner (Community, Culture & Tourism Project Award - Built), 2015 Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets – Winner (Sustainability Project Award - Built), Building Environmental Assessment Method (BEAM) Society - Gold Standard and so on.

 

Presenting by HKAAA and Ko Shan Theatre together, this will be an insider-tour on front and backstage and bring your insights on venue management and architectural features of a building that is dedicated for Cantonese opera performances.
