The Krakow Festival Office (KFO) was established in 1997 as a commune institution of culture. The first goal was the organisation of a series of prestigious events in all areas of culture, connected with the title European Capital of Culture of 2000 granted to Krakow. The ventures of that period, in this dozens of festivals, grounded the position of the Office as a significant organiser of cultural events in Poland and Europe. The unique experiences country-wide, contacts and know-how are its strong sides.

 

Today, under the leadership of Izabela Helbin, Director, and Robert Piaskowski, Programme Director, KFO realises and promotes great cultural events of a local, national and international range. It is active in various fields such as music, fine arts, literature and theatre:

 

Music:

Misteria Paschalia Festival: emphasises the atmosphere of the Holy Week and presents some of the greatest early music, hosting musicians such as Jordi Saval and Marc Minkowski. Find out more at http://www.misteriapaschalia.com/en/

Fine arts:

ArtBoom Festival: presents significant projects in the field of fine arts and displays modern art in the public space, previously realised works with such artists as Jenny Holzer, Mirosław Bałka and Blu. Find out more at http://www.artboomfestival.pl/en/

 

Literature:

Conrad Festival: Includes writers from various countries who write in different languages and represents diverse cultures and world views. Czesław Miłosz Literary Festival: Created on the basis of the Krakow Meetings of the Poets of the East and the West and involves poetry soirées, panel discussions, film screenings. Theatre:

Divine Comedy International Theatre Festival: Presents the best Polish shows competing for the best show of the year title and the Divine Comedian prize. Foreign theatre groups, as well as meetings with philosophers, theatre theoreticians, and critics are also featured in the Festival. 

 

The potential of KFO, experienced in effective cooperation with the biggest producers of great ventures, in this knowing how to satisfy the expectations of producers and artists of world class, among others, is realised through the 6 senses programme, gathering the biggest Krakow events. The glamour of Krakow is further proved by its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a UNESCO City of Literature.
