Arts Management Seminar Series: The Truth about Managing a Theatre Company

“Arts Management Seminar Series: The Truth about Managing a Theatre Company” co-presented with Chung Ying Theatre Company has been successfully held last week. Participants were given an insider tour at the historical building, including the storeroom of props and costumes.

We were glad to have Mr Dominic Cheung, General Manager of Chung Ying Theatre Company, Ms Christy Lee, Programme Manager of Chung Ying Theatre Company and Mr Alan Tang, Founder of Drama Lab, a new theatre group, to share their insights and experience in working in the theatre industry.
 
As an all-rounded theatre professional who has transformed himself from an actor to the General Manager, Dominic emphasized the importance of learning by experience. He told the audience his ultimate goal to contribute to the society through the arts of theatre that continuously drive his commitment to the theatre world for more than 30 years.

Christy gave an overview on the role and working environment of a producer. She explained the responsibility for the producer to coordinate and make peace with different department, while he or she is working on various tasks, including choosing the script, budget control and scheduling for actors.
