Highlight Recap - Public Forum: Advocating the social value of the arts - the role of arts administrators cum Information session of EMA(AME) programme

Public Forum: Arts education with a difference: how to highlight the social and educational value of the arts ? organized by Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association and the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, The Education University of Hong Kong was successfully held on April 24 at Music Children Foundation.

 

We were delighted to have 2 renowned Art Educators to share their dreams and the concept behind their education programmes. Miss Law Yuk Mui, the Co-founder of Rooftop Institute, had demonstrated the importance of the engagements between Local students and Asian Artists. Vietnamese and Japanese Artists had been invited to Hong Kong to conduct artistic researches, and provided guidance to Hong Kong Students. It strived to broaden the horizon of local youngsters through the process of interactions on contemporary social and cultural issues between Artists and Students. Ms Annike Pong, the Executive Director of Music Children Foundation, had taken similar approach on emphasizing the importance of social and education value of the arts to local youngsters. Music Children Foundation has been offering free music lessons to underprivileged children in Sham Shui Po, and the programmes have sucessfully nurtured the confidence, team spirit and the sense of responsibility of the students. The above discussions aimed to provide examples of solutions to the challenges which Art Educators might faced nowadays. It also illustrated the impact and importance of Art Education to the growth of youngsters.
