Making Good Work - Insights and Reflections in Arts Education

Co-organised by Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association (HKAAA) and British Council

This session aims to provide participants with thinking resources designed to help them reflect on and improve their work with young people, drawn from contemporary debates. It will also offer examples of arts education practice from the UK that might inspire or provoke new ideas for their ways of working.

The core reflective question of ‘why do you do what you do?’ will be explored through a discussion of values, the image of the child, the possible aims of arts education work, thoughts on how learning happens and what it might involve to aim for excellence.

This will be illustrated by examples and case studies drawn from work of the Creative Partnerships programme in Birmingham, The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Play House Theatre in Education Company amongst others.
