Mr Louis YU, Executive Director, Performing Arts of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority

Mr Yu joined the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in June 2010. He is responsible for steering the planning and development of the performing arts facilities in the District, and for overseeing the strategies and operating models for these facilities. Since joining the WKCDA, Mr Yu has played a pivotal role in leading the design and construction of the performing arts facilities, including the soon-to-open Xiqu Centre and Freespace, and the development of Lyric Theatre Complex. Over the past 8 years, WKCDA launched a series of pre-opening programmes for dance, drama and theatre arts, music and xiqu, such as “West Kowloon Bamboo Theatre”, “Freespace Fest”, “Freespace Happening”, “Producers’ Network Meeting & Forum” and “Rising Stars of Cantonese Opera”. With over 30 years of experience in arts administration and management, Mr. Yu was formerly the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council from 2007 to 2010. He had worked with the Hong Kong Arts Centre and served as the Executive Director from 2000 to 2007.
