Event Recap: 3rd Hong Kong Arts Administration Recruitment Day

The 3rd Hong Kong Arts Administration Recruitment Day, presented by HKAAA, has been successfully held on last Saturday 15 August 2015. We are glad to have 8 arts organizations joined as recruiters, providing more than 20 job vacancies for on-site application and interview. More than 200 participants attended for talks and job applications. We are honoured to have 5 distinguished guest speakers: Ms Jessie Lam (Executive Director, Theatre Ronin), Ms Connie Lam (Executive Director, Hong Kong Arts Centre), Mr Raymond Wong (Managing Director, City Contemporary Dance Company), Ms Jo Ngai (Executive Director, The Nonsensemakers) and Mr Antony Chan (Senior Charities Manager, The Hong Kong Jockey Club) who shared their views and experience in the field with the attendees. Thank you very much for your support! HKAAA would like to extend our gratitude to Recruit for being our exclusive media partner of the recruitment day for the second time, and volunteers who helped make this event possible.

Our guest speakers revealed that the industry, ranging from small, medium to large-scale arts groups, has a demand for arts administrators. Among the recruiters, the first thing many look for in potential colleagues is not the education level or which major they studied, but their personality and their knowledge and passion for arts. Broadly speaking, arts administration involves a wide variety of job duties that require characteristics such as good communication skills, common sense, versatility, individuality as well as team spirit.
