Staged Right! Performing Arts Production Workshop for Arts Administrators

08-01-2012 2:30 PM - 08-01-2012 4:30 PM

Staging a theatrical/ performing arts production requires a collaborative effort among the director, performers, designers, production crews and the administrators.Every member is a part of a cohesive community;the better the community functions, the greater the potential tocreate a meaningful and engaging experience for the audiences.

Arts administrators provide a bridge between the art, the artists, and the audiences, and are required to work and liaise effectively with different members of the creative and production team, empowering and assisting them to make the best artwork.  Yet as most administratorsare not trained in theatre technical areas, they often encounter difficulties in understanding the needs from different members from the creative and production team, which may cause unnecessary misunderstanding.

This workshop is targeted for administrators who would like to have more in-depth understanding on performing arts production process and common queries on production management.  Contents include:

·       What are they referring to by these? (Technical jargons/ Theatre glossary)

·       Who can I talk to when in doubt? (Different roles in the  technical team)

·       Why do they think it differently? (Scheduling & theatre process)

·       How would I handle these situations? (Case Studies)
