Highlight Recap – Crafting a Career in Art & Design

Many young people aspire to join the arts and design industries and continue to look for innovative and effective ways to develop their career. Thus, Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association and Hong Kong Art Gallery Association invited renowned Artist anothermountainman (Stanley Wong) and renowned Designer and Founder of Sin Sin Fine Art Gallery Sin Sin Man to share their experience on building up their career. Renowned Artist Kacey Wong moderated a chit-chat session and led a discussion with the audience. This seminar was part of PMQ’s detour 2017 Creative Festival.

Sin Sin recalled her career taking off from On Lan Street. Without any deliberate planning, she naturally got her inspiration from her interactions with different people. anothermountainman believed an artist might not able to plan a career path but everyone could design their own life. He refused to be defined as a successful person, as this identity was like a full-stop. However, he preferred to live his life like a comma, which he could keep moving forward. Thus, he woke up every morning and reminded himself to start afresh like a piece of white paper and keep up with the times.  Kacey Wong said that he need to make an effort to introduce his artist’s identity whenever he met new friends. However, he asked artists not to limit themselves by their identity and remember to keep their sense of humor and fun spirit.
