Accounts and Accountability

Event Date
05-06-2010 10:00 AM - 05-06-2010 1:00 PM

With the growing importance of arts and culture as part of the creative economy and the sizable investment of public funds most notably in the West Kowloon Cultural District, stakeholders (management, Boards, government bodies, investors, Legislative Council, sponsors, patrons etc) are expected to show increasing interest in how money is spent in this sector.

Against this background, professionals working in arts and culture will have an increasingly important role to play in improving the accountability of their employing organisations, and in ensuring that the duties are carried out properly and effectively.

BDO Limited, the Hong Kong member firm of one of the largest international accounting and auditing professional networks in the world, has kindly accepted the invitation of the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association to share with us their technical expertise on the internal and financial control/corporate governance, and financial reporting for NGOs.

Two prominent speakers from BDO Limited, Messrs Stephen Chan and Tony Chan, will share with the audience their technical expertise on the following topics:

Why are financial and internal control/corporate governance important to your organisation, and how they can be effectively implemented especially when operating under limited resources;

An update on the relevant Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards, and the financial reporting issues unique to your organisation, including accounting for complimentary tickets and barter arrangements, and their related disclosure requirements.
