Introduction

‘Arty Hour@HKAAA’ is an arts and cultural salon held every few months by the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association. The regular gathering will serve as an open platform for everyone in the arts scene to update each other on new happenings, exchange ideas and to facilitate arts and cultural development in the long run. We embrace an open forum with free discussions. Special guests will be invited to share their views and experience based on the topic.

The topic of the coming ‘Arty Hour@HKAAA’ is “Summer Cultural Traveling in Europe”. Each summer, many art lovers like to go to Europe especially for international art festivals and exhibitions, such as La Biennale di Venezia, Berliner Theatertreffen, Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe. What new insights could people learn from visiting and participating these festivals? How would international cultural events influence the art scene of Hong Kong?

We are glad to have Mr William Chan, Performing Art Critic and Project Manager at the International Association of Theatre Critics (Hong Kong), Mr Law Kwok-ho, Chairman of Hong Kong Association of Theatre Technicians and Scenographers, Producer of PQ2015 Hong Kong Booth and Mr Alan Tang, Founder of Drama Lab and Black Curtain Theatre Company, a new drama group that aims for re-interpretation of classic theatre, to talk about their experience in Holland Festival, International Exhibition of Scenography and Theatre and Edinburgh Festival respectively. Being one of the art festivals with longest history, Holland Festival is well-known for its innovative and avant-garde programmes. William's trip is supported by the Arts Development Fund of the Home Affairs Bureau, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

‘Arty Hour@HKAAA’ is a causal occasion for thoughts to collide and wild ideas to flow. We would like to invite all fellow arts practitioners and anyone with an interest in arts & culture to join the gathering.

Come, share your views, and experience with us!
