Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, the National Theatre of Great Britain’s Tony Award-winning production of War Horse is coming to Hong Kong for the first time ever. Hailed by Time Magazine as ‘a landmark theatre event,’ this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage. An unforgettable theatre experience, ‘not to be missed’ (Chicago Tribune).

Haw Par Mansion is well-known for its east-meets-west architectural style, with nearly 80 years of history. It has been revitalized recently as Haw Par Music. The project aims to provide local communities with a cultural environment to learn Chinese and Western music, enhancing audiences' personal sentiments.
The guided tour allows participants to explore the historical building, including the private garden, painted glass windows from Italy and gold-gilded murals inside the Mansion. In addition, HKAAA is honored to invite Ms Sheryl Lee and Mr Roger Wu to share the natural landscape and architectural features of the Mansion. They will also introduce the upcoming music and community projects of Haw Par Music.

Balancing the elements of a project – time, money, scope and people – is one of the biggest challenges faced by arts administrators. It is difficult to standardise each project into a formula. SEE stands for Share, Explore and Experience. To put things in perspective, different art groups will be invited to share their difficulties encountered and the solutions to tackle the issues with participants. At the same time, participants can also share their thoughts and opinions towards the performance or exhibition. The two-way communication allows participants to further explore and experience the performance/ artwork through the activity, with a final goal to enhance audience appreciation.

Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association (HKAAA) is honoured to co-present with the Sir Edward Youde Scholars Association (SEYSA) and it is our pleasure to invite their representative and Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund past scholarship awardees for a sharing session on how the scholarship could open doors for Hong Kong arts practitioners. The scholarship aims at financing outstanding local and overseas studies, and the recipients of the scholarship are expected to contribute significantly to the development of Hong Kong after graduation. We believe that this event will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about the scholarship and how it could help the awardees a step closer to their dreams.
