In collaboration with WKCDA, Australian curator Virginia Hyam (former director of Melbourne Fringe Festival and former Head of Contemporary Culture programming at Sydney Opera House) will share her experience of curating programs and producing events, which have successfully engaged audiences, from indoor performances and festivals to large-scale outdoor events. Examples will be drawn from Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Fringe, Parramasala Festival and her work in the youth arts sector, as well as sighted examples from across the world. Coming from the perspective of a producer/ curator rather than a marketer, she will share insights of building a brand, involving community and capturing the attention of audiences along the way, while supporting the profile of emerging artists.

This workshop is targeted for arts managers who would like to harness the power of the web and learn how to use online marketing tools and mobile apps to market and connect with their audiences.

A workshop co-presented by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and the Hong Kong Arts Administrators Association, Mr. John Bayley, Head of Production of Sydney Festival, will talk about how he managed the logistics challenges when presenting outdoor events, including solving the dilemma of budgets and staffing which is especially relevant to smaller arts groups to achieve the best creative outcome for street shows.

In the midst of the ongoing heated debate over the establishment of the Cultural Bureau and the shaping of arts and cultural policy in Hong Kong, Mr Ma Fung Kwok won a seat in the Legislative Council (Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication Functional Constituency).  This is an important meeting for arts and culture practitioners to share your thoughts and make your voice heard.  Not to be missed. 

This workshop is targeted for administrators who would like to have more in-depth understanding on performing arts production process and common queries on production management.

Targeted for performing arts administrators, the workshop will look into the functions of performance house programme, as well as the content and details should be included and common problems in the production process. House programmes samples of different art forms will be used to enumerate the guidelines of writing for the medium.

This one-day intensive and hands-on workshop will lead the participants through the process of writing a grant proposal.  Participants will be actively engaged in exercises and activities so to learn to develop and critique proposal components.   

Targeted for arts practitioners, this workshop will focus on introducing the issues on copyright, as well as the spectrum of rights and licenses available. Common queries on copyright issues related to the arts and creative industries will be answered.

Dr Tsetsura is going to share with us her views on the media, marketing and PR practices in Hong Kong, highlighting our unique strength and inspiring us with innovative bold new strategies and ideas. Targeted specially for arts managers and practitioners, Dr Tsetsura will be giving us tips in maximizing our PR efforts and suggesting ways of improvements.

Two veteran dance administrators, Ms Helen Ng, Consultant for Robert H.N. Ho Family Foundation, and Former Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Ballet; and Ms Clementine Chan, Managing Director of City Contemporary Dance Company, will introduce to the participants of this talk the various aspects to dance / arts administration.
